Dog Missing For Nearly A Week After Somerset County Crash Reunited With Owner

Bonnie, a beloved Sheltie dog who ran off when her owner was struck by a vehicle in Somerset County, has returned home after nearly a week, police have confirmed.

Bonnie was on a walk with her owner when the woman was struck near the intersection of Crusader Way and Washington Street in Bound Brook around 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12, Daily Voice reported.

The woman, 63, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, while Bonnie ran off, initiating a search that spanned adjacent neighborhoods and local shelters.

Bonnie had returned home as of Monday afternoon, Dec. 18, Bound Brook Police said in an update:

“Thanks to everyone for the incredible amount of help!” the department commented on their post, which had been shared more than 800 times.
